Adoptive & Foster Families

If you are here, it is because you are an adoptive or foster parent or perhaps you are considering becoming one.  The Nurture Place is hugely committed to adoption and foster care.  Trauma-informed care, attachment and adoption competency are a core part of our programs.  Many parents feel overwhelmed and isolated and, at times, they feel like there is nowhere to turn.  The needs of our children who’ve suffered trauma and adversity before coming to our homes are unique.  And, we, as their parents and caregivers must understand these complexities.  We believe that family support in a safe environment combined with evidenced-based programs, trauma-informed & adoption competent professionals and resources will help you and your children thrive.

Our adoption and foster parents program includes:

TBRI® is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. While the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, the heartbeat of TBRI® is connection.

Adoptive & Foster Families can schedule an initial consultation with an adoption and foster parent coach and TBRI® practitioner. Together, an individualized plan of action will be created to guide you through your parenting journey.

  • Initial Free 15 minute Consultation

  • TBRI® Training

  • Referral sources of trauma-informed professionals

  • Other Resources

We want every child to learn strategies that help them heal and thrive!  A huge part of doing this well is through the equipping of parents and caregivers with trauma-informed & adoption-informed resources.

Adoption & Foster connection group

The Nurture Place facilitates an Adoptive and Foster Families Connection Group for parents each month during the school calendar year Sept-May. Simultaneously children attend a Nurture Group.

The group meets on the second Monday of the month in Winter Garden.

Pre-registration is required by the Friday before for the Nurture Groups as space is limited. At this time we only accommodate children up to 12 years old.
