The Nurture Place - Orlando House
The Nurture Place continues to expand services to communities in Central Florida. Our Orlando House, located in the 50/Mills area, is a space for families to access what we know through evidence-based research works:
-
the importance of the attachment in relationship
-
the best & latest social-emotional programs and interventions
-
social connection with peers and trained professionals
-
a safe space for all individuals to gain access to mental wellness programs
The Nurture Place is committed to a neighborhood model of care. Traditionally, services available in our community include individual mental health counseling. These services are essential and meet a critical need; however, access to additional levels of care can provide greater access to social-emotional gained skills, healing, and growth. The Orlando House seeks to collaborate with the community to provide safe and healing spaces for individuals to connect, play and grow!
Programs
Nurture & Thrive
The Nurture Place had the opportunity to help host a holiday event for central Florida teens and young adults this past December. Some of the volunteers have been participating in the event for a few years running now. As a result, we observed a need for support for young adults currently living in a transitional living environment. They are not ready to be on their own, but they have "aged out" of the foster care system. Imagine facing the big world at eighteen on your own. Some of the kids are still working to get their G.E.D., others are working, and still, others are pursuing further education. We have developed the Nurture & Thrive Program for just such young adults. We want these individuals to know they are not alone as we walk with them, provide them with community, and help them through these transitional times by sharing skills and connecting them with resources. Join us on the 3rd Friday of each month as we hang out, have dinner and focus on anything from self-care to finance. We need mentors and advocates like you!
Nurturing Social Skills
for high schoolers
This social skills group provides the chance to develop the social and emotional competencies that lead to life success. The curriculum is age-appropriate, teaching skills that range from making friends and joining in play to managing stress and regulating emotions for 9th and 10th Graders. We partner with Social Bridges Curriculum to deliver this evidence based program.
Counseling
With supportive relationships, adversity of all types can be met with resilience and strength. Our network of experienced counselors provide individual and family support to support recovery and growth.
